AEYL Programs Overview
Our Youth Programs
Through formal and informal classroom training, AEYL offers youth education programs in many "real-world" issues like the importance of education, stability in careers, and financial management. AEYL partners with the College Greenlight System, a free, online college & scholarship search resource for first-generation and underrepresented college-bound students.
Although basketball is our leading outreach sport At this point, we feel that it is time to venture into several other sports such as football, baseball etc as the organization expands. This move will increase our members fundamentals and strength as individuals, players and as a team. Sports outreach is a great way to connect to local youth organizations, programs and communities. It is also a way for the youth to develop social competency, teamwork; sportsmanship and leadership skills; as well as evolve personal ethics.
We have Reliable, Encouraged and Ambitious Community Helpers (R.E.A.C.H.) working toward giving back to the community and inspiring appreciation. The youth expands their horizons by visiting other communities outside of their own. They learn leadership, life skills, and team work. Through community service, the youth will become more productive citizens who will be able and willing to give back to their community, actively develop healthier lifestyles and gain versatility.
In order to LEAD, you must learn to follow leadership mannerisms; B-1 is AEYL’s youth mentoring program that offers guidance. AEYL connects mentors and youth to encourage academic success, reduce absenteeism and delinquency, and instill a desire to prepare for success. To accomplish our many goals, young men and women will work directly with adults who will serve as role models to help develop skills such as good boundaries, time management, good study habits, strong g communication, positive peer relationships, and respect for self and others. The young men and women will also be grouped by age with their peers to promote teamwork, reliance and brotherhood. AEYL’s leaders are patience, respectful, and have a desire to help the youth succeed both academically and personally.
